Round Diamond Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Procedure.
In order to effectively safeguard our pupils in all contexts, we are committed to the continued professional development of our staff team. All staff receive statutory training and updates linked to Keeping Children Safe in Education, First Aid (including Paediatric) and Health and Safety. We have a School Health Manager who, with the correct paperwork and parental permissions, is able to administer medication on site.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with their parents / carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the government’s Prevent agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

Online Safety at Round Diamond
At Round Diamond, E-safety is at the core of our computing curriculum. The resources that our children can access through technology is continuing to increase, giving our children the opportunities to learn and grow in new ways. However, we are very aware of the risks and dangers that can come from this. This is why we feel it is crucial for us to educate our children to use technology safely.
During each computing lesson, we share the importance of being safe online with the children, as they access and use a range of digital devices. At the beginning of the school year, children have a computing lesson where the primary focus is on E-safety.
We then continue to weave this topic into our lessons throughout the year, through our ‘tip of the week’ at the start of each computing lesson. This gives the children opportunities to recap the ways that they can remain safe online and provides them with scenarios that allow for helpful and crucial discussions.
We also frequently use the SMART acronym to reinforce the online steps that the children have previously learned. This is displayed in each classroom on their computing learning wall.
We have E-Safety displays in all classrooms that are constantly referenced to throughout RSHE learning and computing lessons, as well as to support with a range of class assemblies highlighting the importance of staying safe online
We expect all children at Round Diamond to follow our acceptable use policy when using technology at school.
