How We Support Wellbeing

At Round Diamond we:

  • Help children to understand their emotions and feelings better.
  • Help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries.
  • Promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count.
  • Help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks.

We do this through:

  • Our comprehensive RSHE curriculum and our life skills class assemblies.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and supportive environment in school.
  • Promoting and teaching our PRIDE values in class and in assemblies – we promote the idea of working together through challenges.
  • Celebrating a variety of class and pupil achievements.
  • Our enrichment days which have a wellbeing focus.

We also offer additional support to children who may benefit from it.

Character Development

Character development is embedded in our PRIDE learning behaviours and our school values of responsible, determined and successful. Through our learning behaviours and values, we teach and foster resilience and confidence in our pupils. We ensure that all our pupils benefit equally from what we offer by reducing barriers to participation.

Common Life Events

Common life events which may affect a child’s wellbeing:

  • Loss or bereavement
  • Loneliness
  • Friendship problems
  • Issues at school
  • Worries

We all have times when we struggle with our mental wellbeing, where we feel stressed, upset or find it difficult to cope.
