Meet the Senior Leadership Team

Mrs Zoë Phillips, Executive Headteacher

I have been a teacher for over 25 years and worked in a number of Stevenage schools, including Bedwell Primary, The Leys Primary and Lodge Farm Primary. I have taught a range of year groups from Nursery to Year 6. I am a School Effectiveness Advisor (SEA) for Herts for Learning, supporting good and outstanding schools with school improvement.

I have been a Headteacher since 2007, first at Weston Primary and now at Round Diamond since 2011. I became Executive Headteacher across Round Diamond and Martins Wood schools in September 2022, and supported the school before that in a consultant role. In my spare time, I enjoy running and playing the piano. I live with my husband and our two girls near Woburn in Bedfordshire.

Miss Ellie Conroy, Deputy Headteacher

Before I joined Round Diamond Primary School, I taught in Year 1 for three years in a one-form entry Catholic school. This is now my eighth year at Round Diamond. I taught Year 1 for one year and since that time have taught in Reception. In January 2023, I was appointed as an Assistant Head and since September 2024, I am proud to take on the role of Deputy Headteacher. I am also lead of the English Faculty. In my spare time I like cuddling my tiny dog and spending time looking after my horse.

Miss Helen Jewitt, Head for Inclusion

I started at Round Diamond Primary School in 2012 as an Assistant Head. Previously I worked in two other Stevenage schools, teaching in a variety of year groups including a mixed age special provision unit. Throughout my career, I have taught in every year group in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and my last post before joining Round Diamond was as a Nursery Teacher and Early Years Leader.

In 2017, I took on the position of Head of Inclusion at Round Diamond. This means I am responsible for looking after our most vulnerable children. I organise, monitor and manage all of the provision for our disadvantaged, looked after, our highly able pupils as well as those with English as an additional language. As part of my role, I am the school’s SENCo and I work with all of our children with special needs and disabilities. I am very passionate about my work as SENCo and ensuring the best possible outcomes for all of our children.

Mrs Cassie Clark, Assistant Headteacher

Prior to working at Round Diamond, I was the Pastoral Assistant Headteacher at a five-form entry primary school in Luton; this is a role I had been in since 2018, following 10 years teaching at the school until I joined Round Diamond in 2023. I am passionate about promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in schools as I believe these are closely linked to children’s ability to thrive and achieve their potential at school. In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading and walking with my family.

Miss Nicola McGregor, Assistant Headteacher

I joined Round Diamond in 2007 as a Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 1. In 2012, I decided to become a teacher and I studied at the University of Bedfordshire and trained at Round Diamond through the Schools Direct programme with the Shire Foundation. I am now in my ninth year of teaching, previously teaching in Year 2 and Reception. In the Summer Term 2022, I moved to Key Stage 1 where I am currently teaching Year 1. I am very proud to be from Scotland and in my spare time I enjoy hiking with my dog.

Mr Archie Taylor, Assistant Headteacher

I joined Round Diamond in 2015 as a Teaching Assistant. In 2020, I decided to become a teacher and I studied at the University of Middlesex and trained at Round Diamond through the Schools Direct programme with Hertfordshire University. I am now in my third year of teaching, previously teaching in Year 5. Prior to this I have worked in Years 3 and 4 as an unqualified teacher, as well as a HLTA across the school. I am currently in my second year of teaching Year 6. In my spare time I enjoy playing football and have a passion for classic cars.

Miss Betsan Broad, Team Leader (Early Years Foundation Stage)

Before joining Round Diamond, I trained to be a teacher at the University of Brighton. I began my teaching career here at Round Diamond, teaching in Year 1 for two years. Since then, I have moved into Nursery where my passion for the Early Years began. I love seeing the children begin their journey at Round Diamond and watching as they grow and progress throughout the year. In September 2024, I was appointed to lead the Early Years Foundation Stage and I am very excited to take on this challenge. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with my family and friends.

Miss Kirsty Lamont, Team Leader (Key Stage 1)

Prior to working at Round Diamond, I studied Sociology at Nottingham Trent University and then worked as a teaching assistant in Key Stage 1 at another school. I trained to become a teacher at the University of Hertfordshire and completed my first placement in Year 1 at Round Diamond in 2019. I am now in my sixth year of teaching and after three years teaching in Year 4 I am now teaching in Year 5. Last year I was appointed as Team Leader for Years 5 and 6 and enjoy this new challenge. In my spare time I like going to a range of exercise classes and spending time with my family and friends.

Miss Joanna Tebbutt, Team Leader (Lower Key Stage 2)

I joined Round Diamond in September 2024 as a Year 6 teacher and have since taken on the responsibility of Team Leader for Year 3 and 4. I currently assist in running the geography, history and music faculty. My teaching career began at 19 when I was a teaching assistant alongside my degree, and then qualified to teach in 2015. Since then I have taught across years 2, 3, 4 and 6. My degree in psychology has given me a strong understanding of how children develop, and I’m passionate about creating a positive, nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive. Outside of school, I enjoy playing netball and spending time with family and friends. I’m a big believer in appreciating life’s simple pleasures — a hot black coffee and a good selection of road trip snacks are hard to beat!

Mrs Keely Causton, Assistant Headteacher

I trained to be a teacher at Northampton University and have been teaching for 8 years. Before joining Round Diamond School in 2023, I was the Behaviour and Curriculum Lead at a local school in Stevenage. Since 2018, I have been a qualified STEPS Tutor. In 2023, I completed the NPQSL qualification and have since started the NPQH. Before I began my maternity leave in my current role as Assistant Headteacher, I led on Behaviour, Sports Premium and the R.E, P.E and RHSE Faculty. In my spare time, I enjoy lots of cuddles with my dog and spending time with friends and family.

Miss Anna Owen, Assistant Headteacher 

I started my teaching career straight from school by attending Canterbury Christ Church University where I had the chance to teach for a month in Fiji! After graduating I taught for five years at Hammond Academy in Hemel Hempstead, teaching Year 1 and Reception and a year in a team leader position for Early Years. I joined Round Diamond in 2017, leading the Early Years until 2021, when I was appointed as Assistant Head. I am originally from Wales and love going back to visit the beaches and mountains and spending time with my family.
